Most local
business spends so much time and money trying to make their websites rank
number one for their desired keywords. And yeah that is great if you can do it
but it is not completely necessary. And you may be thinking, Well Brandon, you
just said online marketing is so important? I Well yeah, it is so important,
but you don’t need to keep going until you’re number one in Google. As long as
you are in a top five or above five and in the Google Places listings then
you’re doing just fine and I’m about to show you exactly what I mean.
Your
conversion rate is a measure of the number of potential customers that go on to
buy. In the context of a website, it is usually the percentage of visitors that
make a purchase. Many websites concentrate solely on increasing the number of
visitors they have, when often they have fairly simple problems with their site
that, if solved, would have a huge effect on their conversion rate and improve
their site's bottom line at minimal expense.
In most
industries, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel – you can easily look at the
top three to five competitors to see what works and what doesn’t. So instead of
building a basic strategy from scratch, you can learn a basic strategy and then
embellish it with tactics unique to your business (or your client’s).
